Transnational meeting Helsinki

Diak is a co-implementer in the three-year Prevention Works Erasmus project, which started in spring 2024, and aims to develop an evidence-based STB (sexually transgressive behavior) prevention model for young people, together with six European partners. The aim is also to create working methods and materials for youth workers and educators to implement the interventions developed in the project, and to build a European-wide framework for the prevention of digital STB. The target group in the project is defined as young people aged 13-30 and adults. 

From Diak, the personnel in Preworks -project are Hanna Dombret, a lecturer in health, and Sabina Hentilä, a lecturer in health. The main implementing and managing organization of the project is the Ruhr-Universitaet Bochum from Germany. Other partners are the city of Rotterdam from the Netherlands, as well as the organizations St. Dona Daria from the Netherlands, Genderhood from Greece, Wel Jong from Belgium and NRW e.V from Germany.

In the first phase of the project, Diak is responsible for the work package, where together with other partners, educational interventions are created, which are the core of the project. The project application defines the contents and framework conditions for the implementation of the educational interventions: the project will provide four 90-minute educational interventions, which will be varied according to three different age groups. The contents of these interventions are Gender Norms and Societal Expectations, The Digital Self, Safe Relationships and Safety Strategies, and Healthy Communication and Consent. A pilot study will be conducted in spring 2025 regarding educational interventions, and the content of the interventions will be evaluated and developed based on the feedback collected. A Youth Council has been formed as part of the development and evaluation of the educational interventions, to which young volunteers from the partner countries have been invited as members.
